Do’s & Don’t While Washing T-Shirts

Do’s:
- Always turn your t-shirts inside out before washing them to protect the outer surface and minimize colour fading.
- It’s best to wash similar colours together to prevent colour transfer.
- Air dry the t-shirts while hanging them by clips or laying them flat to avoid shrinking in the dryer.
- Iron your t-shirts from the inside out on a low heat setting, but skip ironing printed or embellished designs.
- Treat stains as soon as possible instead of waiting for the regular cleaning time.
Don'ts:
- Use hot water or harsh detergents. They can damage the fabric and cause colours to fade.
- Wring out your t-shirts excessively. This can mess up their shape.
- Dry t-shirts under direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure to harsh sun rays can fade colours and weaken fibres.
- Wash t-shirts even when it’s not necessary.
How to Dry & Store Tees to Increase Their Longevity?
Simply washing t-shirts as per the instructions is not enough to revive their look and shape; a lot goes into it. After cleaning, the next crucial step in line is drying. Instead of tossing them into the dryer, which can cause shrinkage and wear over time, air drying clothes by hanging them on a clothesline is recommended. This gentle drying method preserves the fabric and prevents stretching.
Store your t-shirts by folding them in the wardrobe. You can also hang the t-shirts on wooden hangers just like clothing stores.
